Description of Available Positions

Full-time Positions: Year round

  • External Affairs Director: Develops and monitors all outreach activities related to marketing of programs and recruitment of students. Produces program publications, advertisements, special events, updates website postings and able to manage Facebook pages. Requirements: Candidate must have at least two years experience in the marketing and promotions field with knowledge of the Windows Office Suit package, Adobe In Design software and great familiarity with Internet social media. Proven writing skills and experience in production of publications such as newsletter and periodicals is essential. Free child care services available. Excellent benefits & pension plan. Salary in high 30's low 40's depending on experience.
  • Preschool Head Teacher: To work with young children throughout the year or during the summer months in one or more ACT Programs that aims to meet children's cognitive, emotional, social and physical needs while supporting parents to rear their child in an urban setting. To enhance the quality of activities offered to youngsters at A.C.T. serving children and families on the upper west side and Harlem areas of Manhattan, background in natural science and ecology is preferred. Requirements: candidate must have a BA in Education and/or an NYS Early Childhood license or equivalent; two years of group teaching experience with children under six years old; familiar with PC platform using Microsoft office; familiar with DOH regulations, excellent communication skills, must meet Department of Health requirement for Head teacher: DOI fingerprints, annual medical, NYS certification and others that may arise. Salary in 30's depending on experience. Excellent benefits & pension plan. Salary contingent of length of position and experience.
  • Program Assistant: Full- time positions is available to work with small groups of children in various program throughout the year and assist the director of programs in implementing program goals. Prefer candidates that can demonstrate organizational skills Requirements: Candidates must have no less than two years of classroom experience in an educational setting and have undergraduate credits in education. Assistant teacher :$9- $15/hr.
  • Clerical support: Assist with front office operations, help manage and maintain registration system and coordinate internal communications. No less than two years experience in similar setting or personal service field, strong PC computer literacy, good typing skills (50 wpm) and excellent interpersonal skills. Flexible hours.

School-age program positions

  • Counselor/Group leaders: Supervise school-age children in after-school program (2-6 p.m. weekdays) and on some holidays (8 hrs./Day) Lead and organize activities. Must work minimum of eight hours per week. Experience preferred, training provided. Hourly rates vary from $8.00-$15.00/hr.
  • Homework Helper: Oversee and assist children with homework assignments on Mondays-Thursday 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Hourly rates vary from $7.00-$12.00/hr.
  • Summer Camp Counselors: Work with school-age children in a theme based Day Camp program (see Summer Camp section) during July and/or August. Experience is a must. Must be over 18 years old. Hourly rates vary from $7.00-$15.00/hr. Preference is given to staff with sleep-a-away camp experience
  • Summer Camp Specialist: Teach classes in area of expertise in July and/or August. Instructors needed in: Art, Music, Sports, Swim, Nature, Gardening, Dance. Requirements: Teaching certification is required or equivalent work experience in a similar setting. Preference is given to staff with sleep-a-away camp experience. Salary range from $3,500- $5,075 for season depending on length of position and experience.
  • Summer Camp Lifeguard/Swim Instructor: Teach swimming classes to children enrolled in summer camp, assist in Life guarding, and participate in other camp activities. $8.00-$18.00/hr.


Part-time and seasonal Preschool Staff

  • Parent-Toddler Instructor: Leads parent-toddler classes in the mornings. Experience is required. $60.00- $90.00 per section depending on experiences and total number of hour per week.
  • Assistant Teacher: Work with Head Teacher to implement preschool program. Students attend on a part-time and full-time basis ages 2.7-5.0 years. Experience is preferred: (Full-time and Part-time available. See description above) Hourly rate $9.00-$15.00/hr.
  • Camp Head Teacher: Organize and lead activities offered to preschoolers in summer camp program primarily in an outdoor setting. Experience in similar setting required.
  • Camp Assistant Teacher: Work with Head Teacher to implement summer camp program for preschool students primarily in an outdoor setting. Experience is preferred.
